A comprehensive analysis of differences between TC4 and TC4Eli

The composition of titanium alloy TC4 is Ti-6Al-4V, which belongs to (α+β) type titanium alloy and has good comprehensive mechanical and mechanical properties. TC4 is the main grade in titanium alloy. With its excellent performance, it has shown unparalleled charm and strength in many high-end fields such as aerospace, military equipment, Marine engineering and medical equipment.

The composition of TC4Eli titanium alloy is T1-6A1-4V, which is an ultra-pure titanium alloy with low clearance elements and excellent mechanical and technological properties. Compared to TC4, TC4Eli has a lower impurity element content and stricter composition control, so its performance is more stable and reliable.

TC4EL is an improved version of TC4, which is mainly different in Al content and lower content of interstitial elements Fe, N, H and O. ‌

‌TC4‌ : Containing 6% α stable element Al, 4% β stable element V, Al equivalent 7.0.

‌TC4Eli‌ : On the basis of TC4, the contents of interstitial elements (C, O, N) and impurity elements Fe are significantly reduced ‌. For example, its oxygen content is capped at 0.13% (TC4 is not explicitly reduced by routine) ‌.

‌ Mechanical properties and applicable environment ‌

‌TC4‌ :

Medium room temperature strength and high temperature strength, suitable for ordinary or high temperature environment (≤450℃) ‌.

Excellent fatigue resistance, creep resistance and thermal stability, but limited performance at low temperature ‌.

‌TC4Eli‌ :

The strength is slightly lower than TC4, but the plasticity, toughness, fracture toughness and low temperature performance are significantly improved, and can be used in ultra-low temperature (-196℃) environment ‌.

Different processing processes:

The number of smelting is different, TC4 has no special requirements, and TC4Eli must be melted three times.

‌ Application field ‌

‌TC4‌ :

Aeroengine compressor disc/blade, aircraft bearing structural parts (such as beams, spacer frames).

Applicable temperature range: -196~450℃ (but low temperature performance is weaker than TC4Eli) ‌.

‌TC4Eli‌ :

Low temperature engineering (such as liquid hydrogen storage tank), medical implants (orthopedic/dental instruments), ship and aircraft girder and other scenarios requiring low temperature or high toughness, biocompatibility is outstanding, suitable for long-term implantation ‌.
